AASA Educational Administration Scholarships

Offered by AASA, The School Superintendents Association

About this scholarship

AASA’s Educational Administration Scholarships provide seven $2,500 awards to outstanding graduate students preparing for careers in school administration and the public-school superintendency. The program has supported future education leaders since 1949 and honors former AASA executive directors. Applicants must already be enrolled in a graduate program, intend to pursue the superintendency, and obtain the recommendation of the chair or dean of their School of Education. AASA permits only one application from each college or university campus, so candidates should coordinate with their academic unit before starting. The online application asks for three separate career-focused essays covering the applicant’s interest in becoming a superintendent, an administrative or educational problem the applicant has handled, and the skills and experiences that would make the applicant an effective superintendent. It also requires a signed recommendation from the education chair or dean and two endorsements: one from an employing school-system officer or academic department member and one from a leading community citizen. Selected recipients must become AASA members before receiving the scholarship. Complete applications are due September 30, 2026, and late submissions are not accepted.
