About this scholarship

The Aalto University Excellence Scholarship is Aalto University's main tuition-waiver scholarship for non-EU, non-EEA, non-Swiss students who are liable to pay tuition fees in English-taught bachelor's or master's programmes. Aalto states that the scholarships are very limited, highly competitive, and awarded to the highest-achieving applicants based on each programme's academic evaluation criteria; individual programmes may decide not to grant any scholarships. The scholarship is recorded as partial funding because it is a tuition fee waiver and does not cover living costs, housing, travel, insurance, books, residence permits, or personal expenses in Finland. Students apply for the scholarship inside the admission application form, where tuition-fee-liable applicants choose whether they want scholarship consideration. Scholarship decisions are issued at the same time as admission decisions. For Aalto students moving from an English-taught Aalto bachelor's degree to a direct-right master's programme, a scholarship may continue for master's studies if the student held the Excellence Scholarship and completed the bachelor's degree in target time with the required weighted average grade.

Eligibility

• Be liable to pay tuition fees as a non-EU, non-EEA, non-Swiss student
• Apply to an eligible English-taught bachelor's or master's programme at Aalto University
• Request scholarship consideration inside the admission application form
• Rank among the highest-achieving applicants under the programme evaluation criteria
• Accept that the waiver covers tuition only, not living costs
• Meet all Aalto admission and language requirements
