2027 Humans of Dementia Scholarship
Offered by Hilarity for Charity
About this scholarship
Hilarity for Charity’s open 2027 Humans of Dementia Scholarship invites high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in the United States and Canada to tell the story of someone personally affected by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. The subject may be living or deceased but must be a relative, friend, or community member known to the entrant rather than a public figure. HFC awards 12 scholarships—six to high school students and six to college students—with $1,500 cash awards in the written-profile and photo or multimedia categories and recognition at a virtual awards reception. Written profiles may be no more than 750 words and should portray the person’s identity, accomplishments, character, and impact with dignity and specific detail. Photo entrants may submit up to three original JPEG images, although judges evaluate a single image; files must be at least 2,000 pixels on the long side and include captions and a short paragraph explaining the entrant’s relationship to the person and images. Multimedia entries may combine still photos of family photographs, letters, keepsakes, drawings, collages, or similar non-video material. Every submission must be original. HFC expressly rejects AI-generated content. Home-schooled and graduate students may enter, entrants may submit no more than one work per category, and applicants under 18 need parental consent. The live Submittable form closes April 1, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific.
