2027 HSF/VAMOS Scholarship

Offered by Valley Alliance of Mentors for Opportunities and Scholarships and Hispanic Scholarship Fund

About this scholarship

The 2027 HSF/VAMOS Scholarship is a renewable need-based award for graduating seniors in Hidalgo, Cameron, or Starr County, Texas. The program is a partnership between the Valley Alliance of Mentors for Opportunities and Scholarships and Hispanic Scholarship Fund, but it is open to students of every race. Recipients attending the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley receive $3,000 per year for four years, or $12,000 total. Recipients attending another eligible four-year institution receive $5,000 per year for four years, or $20,000 total. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, qualify for a Pell Grant, and hold at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale from ninth grade through the first semester or term of twelfth grade. They must plan to enroll full time in fall 2027 at an accredited public or nonprofit four-year university. All required materials are submitted through the HSF application portal; VAMOS does not accept a substitute commercial application. The sponsor has already published the 2027 schedule: the portal opens January 15 and closes February 22, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. The official page currently labels the form closed because the future application window has not yet opened, so applicants should prepare eligibility and financial-aid materials now and return when the portal activates.
