2027 CWRU Theater Minor and Participation Scholarship

Offered by Case Western Reserve University Department of Theater

About this scholarship

Case Western Reserve University’s Theater Minor and Participation Scholarship provides two $10,000 four-year awards each year to prospective students who intend to minor in theater or make theater a serious extracurricular activity while pursuing another major. Applicants use the same Department of Theater competition as theater-major candidates. They first apply for undergraduate admission to CWRU, then arrange an audition or portfolio presentation during an in-person Theater Weekend, an individual weekday visit, the virtual event, or the Arts Supplement route. For the 2026–27 recruitment season, in-person events are scheduled for October 2–3 and November 13–14, 2026, and February 19–20, 2027; the virtual Arts Supplement materials are due February 1, 2027. Acting applicants prepare a memorized monologue of no more than two minutes plus a photo and theater résumé or short biography. Design, stage-management, directing, and dramatic-writing applicants submit the discipline-specific materials described on the official page. International first-time college applicants are eligible, but transfers and students who have already begun an undergraduate degree are not. Recipients renew by contributing to a CWRU theater production every year in a performance, design, or technical role and maintaining the university’s stipulated GPA. The official page does not state that the $10,000 is annual, so this record does not make that assumption.
