About this scholarship

The 2026 WTS New Jersey Transportation YOU High School Scholarship awards $2,500 to a student preparing for a transportation-related college path. Applicants must be high-school seniors in fall 2026, have at least a 3.0 weighted GPA, be studying math, science, and technology, and be considering a degree connected to transportation. Examples include civil, structural, environmental, geotechnical, traffic, electrical, railway, airport, port, or water engineering; urban planning; GIS; surveying; information technology; public-transit management; logistics; and other infrastructure careers. WTS New Jersey requires either permanent New Jersey residence or attendance at a New Jersey school. International students and students who identify as male may apply, although the chapter gives priority to students who identify as female; WTS membership is not required. The application package includes the signed form, an official high-school transcript, a current resume covering school, professional, community, work, and volunteer experience, a recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or principal, and a personal statement of no more than 500 words. The statement should address the applicant’s transportation goals, intended school, future plans, and reasons for deserving the award. Materials are emailed to the Transportation YOU chair named in the official packet by September 18, 2026. Attendance at the November awards event is strongly recommended.

Eligibility

  • Be a high-school senior in fall 2026
  • Have a weighted GPA of at least 3.0
  • Study math, science, and technology and consider a transportation-related degree
  • Have permanent New Jersey residence or attend a New Jersey school
  • Provide an official transcript, current resume, and qualifying recommendation
  • Write a transportation-focused personal statement of no more than 500 words
  • Email the complete signed package by September 18, 2026
