2026 James Alan Cox Graduate Photojournalism Scholarship
Offered by The James Alan Cox Foundation for Student Photojournalists
About this scholarship
The James Alan Cox Foundation offers one 2026 graduate scholarship of $2,500 for video photojournalism. This graduate award has a distinct applicant pool and accepts video work only. Candidates must be enrolled in a journalism or photojournalism graduate program, be U.S. citizens attending U.S. schools, and have at least one semester remaining when the award is made. The portfolio should demonstrate objective visual storytelling about timely events, people, or community life rather than art-focused work. Graduate applicants upload two videos, each limited to three minutes and 20 MB, in one of the sponsor’s accepted file formats. The complete online package also includes the application form, a brief essay, two letters of reference, a school transcript, and financial data. All materials must be submitted through the foundation’s direct application; mailed applications are not accepted and there is no entry fee. The award must be used at the start of the next semester. Because the official page describes the same instant as both midnight on the evening of November 15 and midnight on November 16, applicants should finish the application by November 15, 2026.
