Puckett Scholars Program

Offered by University of Minnesota Twin Cities

About this scholarship

The Puckett Scholars Program is a renewable University of Minnesota Twin Cities award for Minnesota high school seniors entering as first-year students. The current university scholarship table lists a total value of $4,000 over four years. Preference is given to applicants whose records combine strong academic achievement with leadership, community involvement, financial need, and clear potential to succeed in college. There is no separate Puckett application. Instead, the Office of Admissions considers admitted freshmen through its holistic review of the fall 2027 Common Application, including academic preparation, accomplishments, responsibilities, service, leadership, first-generation status, financial or personal barriers, and other context supplied by the student. The fall 2027 application is open now. Students receive full scholarship consideration when their complete freshman application is submitted by one of the university’s published deadlines: November 1, December 1, or the final regular deadline of January 1, 2027. The application consists of the Common App, the application fee or an eligible waiver, and self-reported courses and grades; an essay, recommendation letter, and ACT or SAT score are not required for fall 2027 admission. Applicants who want financial need considered should also complete the FAFSA by the university’s priority financial-aid timing. Scholarship recipients are notified by the end of March.
