TxDOT Conditional Grant Program
Offered by Texas Department of Transportation
About this scholarship
The TxDOT Conditional Grant Program offers need-based educational funding to Texas students preparing for careers at the Texas Department of Transportation. Awards can reach $5,000 per semester or $10,000 per academic year, based on financial need, for study at an accredited four-year public or private Texas institution. The September 1 application period is for current college students, reapplicants, and high school students graduating in December; a separate April 1 period serves high school seniors and current college students. Applicants must be Texas residents eligible to work in the United States, come from an economically disadvantaged household under federal poverty guidelines, and hold at least a 2.5 cumulative college or unweighted high school GPA. The academic plan must lead to a four-year degree in civil engineering or a TxDOT-approved operational business discipline. This is a conditional grant, not unrestricted aid: recipients commit to work for TxDOT for the two academic years immediately after earning the eligible degree. The official packet also requires transcripts, financial documentation, a one-page essay, signatures, and notarization. Completed applications are submitted to the TxDOT careers address or email specified in the packet.
