RIVMA Veterinary Student Scholarship

Offered by Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association

About this scholarship

The Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association Veterinary Student Scholarship awards $2,000 to help a Rhode Island-connected veterinary student pay for the senior year of professional school. Applicants apply during their junior year and must have graduated from a Rhode Island high school or earned an equivalent credential in the state. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required. The association’s scoring formula gives 60 percent of the evaluation to academic excellence and 40 percent to financial need, making both the student’s record and documented circumstances important. The official scholarship page contains the application itself rather than sending students to a generic association homepage. Candidates enter their education and contact information, document their academic standing and need, sign the submission, and arrange two recommendation letters. At least one recommendation must come from a veterinary-school professor or clinician; the form also requests complete identifying and contact information for each author. The annual deadline is October 15, with the next date falling on October 15, 2026. Because the recommendation letters are part of the reviewed file, candidates should ask referees early and confirm that every required item reaches RIVMA by the deadline.
