Richard Eaton Foundation Award
Offered by Broadcast Education Association and the Richard Eaton Foundation
About this scholarship
The Richard Eaton Foundation Award is one $4,000 Broadcast Education Association scholarship for students pursuing any area of electronic media. The award recognizes the broadcasting legacy of Richard Eaton and is sponsored by the Richard Eaton Foundation. Eligible applicants will be juniors, seniors, or graduate students during 2027-2028 at an institution with a BEA-member department. A student at a two-year college may also compete for undergraduate awards when transferring to a four-year BEA member institution. Applicants do not need an individual paid BEA membership, but they must create a BEA profile and use the current common scholarship application. BEA then matches the submission to every award for which the student qualifies. Applicants provide transcripts for all collegiate study, personal and academic data, media and other experience, and a written goals statement. Two letters of recommendation on letterhead are mandatory. One must be written by an electronic-media professor at a college or university; the second may be from a professor or media-industry professional. Recipients must pursue full-time degree work for the entire academic year. Award funds may be applied only to eligible campus-account costs, including tuition, fees, required course purchases, and dormitory-related charges. Complete applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. local time on October 16, 2026.
