Regeneron Science Talent Search

Offered by Society for Science; sponsored by Regeneron

About this scholarship

The Regeneron Science Talent Search is a national research competition for students completing their final year of secondary school. About 2,600 entrants submit original work each year. The 2027 competition distributes $3.1 million: 300 Scholars receive $2,000 each, 40 finalists receive an expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., and the top ten compete for prizes led by a $250,000 first-place award. The student must submit independent, individual research; team projects and attempts to divide a team project into separate entries are not eligible. Research completed during any high school year may qualify, including mentored work, but the applicant must clearly disclose support and demonstrate the applicant’s own contribution. The application includes a research report of no more than 20 pages, short essays, educator and project recommendations, a school report with transcript, disclosures, and optional test scores. Students living in and attending their last year of school in the United States or its territories may enter regardless of citizenship. U.S. citizens studying abroad may also qualify. The online application and recommendations are due November 5, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
