Nurse Corps Scholarship Program
Offered by U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration, Bureau of Health Workforce
About this scholarship
The Nurse Corps Scholarship Program pays nursing-school costs in exchange for service at a health facility experiencing a critical shortage of nurses. The federal award covers tuition, eligible fees, and reasonable educational costs such as books, clinical supplies, instruments, and uniforms. Full-time scholars in the 2026–27 academic year also receive a taxable monthly stipend of $1,642. Funding may continue for as many as four school years. After graduation, recipients must obtain a nursing license and begin approved employment at a qualifying Critical Shortage Facility; the minimum service obligation is two years and increases with the number of school years funded. Eligible applicants are U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents who are accepted to or enrolled in an accredited U.S. nursing degree program and will begin classes by the program’s specified date. Federal judgment liens, overdue federal debt, or another service commitment can disqualify an applicant. Funding preference goes to students with the greatest financial need. The 2026 application cycle is closed, and HRSA had not announced the 2027 dates when this record was verified; the official application page offers notification for the next opening.
