Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association Veterinary Student Scholarships
Offered by Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association
About this scholarship
The Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association distributes 28 veterinary-student scholarships with a combined value of $40,000; each individual award is at least $250. Applicants may study at any veterinary school, but must have graduated from a Nebraska high school or state-approved homeschool, completed at least two semesters of professional veterinary education, and earned a minimum 3.0 GPA. Selection considers financial need, academic performance, and extracurricular involvement. The application opens July 1 and closes October 15. Students first obtain the NVMA’s free student membership and approval, then sign into the member portal and complete the application in one sitting. Required materials include a personal statement, financial information, an academic transcript, and three references from unrelated people: a Nebraska veterinarian employer, a faculty member or adviser, and a personal reference. The applicant’s dean must confirm satisfactory academic standing. Candidates may add a one-page explanation of unusual financial circumstances. Awards are sent in January as checks payable jointly to the student and university, which helps ensure educational use. Because references and dean confirmation require coordination, applicants should prepare those items well before the October 15, 2026 deadline.
