Maryland 2+2 Transfer Scholarship

Offered by Maryland Higher Education Commission

About this scholarship

The Maryland 2+2 Transfer Scholarship helps Maryland community-college students complete a bachelor’s degree at an eligible public or private nonprofit four-year institution in Maryland. For 2026–27, initial applicants must submit both the MHEC One-App through MDCAPS and the 2026–27 FAFSA by October 15, 2026, correcting the December 31 date shown by some directories. A current community-college transcript showing the cumulative GPA is due by November 15. Eligible recipients in science, teaching, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or nursing receive $2,000 annually; students in other majors receive $1,000 annually. Funds may be used for tuition and mandatory fees and remain contingent on legislative funding. Applicants must be Maryland residents, have at least a 2.5 community-college GPA, demonstrate financial need with a Student Aid Index no greater than $10,000, and transfer full time into a degree-seeking undergraduate program. The 2026–27 cohort covers students who earned an associate degree during the 2025–26 academic year and transfer in Fall 2026, or who finish by December 2026 and transfer in Spring 2027. Conditional recipients later submit the final degree transcript and, when applicable, Selective Service proof by February 15, 2027. Renewal can continue for up to three years or six terms with annual FAFSA filing, full-time enrollment, and a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
