Library of American Broadcasting Foundation Award
Offered by Broadcast Education Association and the Library of American Broadcasting Foundation
About this scholarship
The Library of American Broadcasting Foundation Award provides one $3,000 scholarship for graduate students whose advanced degree has a clear focus on broadcast history, media heritage, or related historical scholarship in electronic media. Applicants may attend accredited institutions, with preference given to institutions affiliated with the Broadcast Education Association. The program seeks a strong academic record and the potential to contribute to researching and preserving broadcasting history. Unlike the other BEA awards, this track requires a thesis or dissertation proposal abstract in addition to the common scholarship materials; applicants should not upload a full dissertation. The online submission also requires transcripts from every college attended, a goals statement, personal and academic data, media and other experience, and two recommendation letters on letterhead. At least one reference must be a college or university electronic-media professor, while the second may be another professor or an industry professional. BEA uses the same application to consider candidates for every scholarship whose criteria they satisfy. Awards support full-time degree work for the entire 2027-2028 academic year, not a single semester. Funds may be used only for qualifying tuition, fees, university-bookstore course purchases, dormitory costs, and related charges that can appear on the recipient’s official campus account. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. local time on October 16, 2026.
