Knowles Teaching Fellowship
Offered by Knowles Teacher Initiative
About this scholarship
The Knowles Teaching Fellowship is a four-year professional program for early-career U.S. high school mathematics and science teachers. Knowles values the complete fellowship at more than $150,000 rather than as a single cash scholarship. Support includes annual stipends; grants for classroom materials, professional learning, National Board Certification, and teacher-led projects; mentoring and coaching from experienced educators; nearly 100 hours of professional development each year; and lifelong membership in the Knowles community after completion. Approximately 35 Fellows are selected annually. The first two years focus on studying classroom systems and improving instruction, while years three and four develop collaborative teacher leadership beyond an individual classroom. Applicants for the 2027 cohort must be entering their first, second, or third year as high school teachers in September 2027, commit to teaching grades 9–12 in the United States, and have earned or be on track to earn a mathematics, biology, chemistry, or physics degree within the preceding ten years by September 1, 2027. Selection emphasizes content knowledge, commitment to teaching and professional growth, inclusive student-centered instruction, collaboration, and leadership potential; the award is not based on financial need. Applicants may use one of three windows ending September 18, November 29, 2026, or January 19, 2027.
