Hopi BIA Higher Education Grant and Hopi Education Award

Offered by Hopi Tribe Grants and Scholarships Program

About this scholarship

The Hopi Tribe Grants and Scholarships Program uses one official financial-aid application for its Bureau of Indian Affairs Higher Education Grant and Hopi Education Award. Both sources assist enrolled Hopi Tribe members attending a regionally accredited college or university full time, defined as at least 12 credit hours. Eligible students may pursue an associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or postgraduate degree. Tribal funding is secondary aid, so applicants must first complete the FAFSA and apply for all available federal, state, and institutional assistance. The packet requires Hopi enrollment verification, official transcripts from every applicable school, the HTGSP Financial Needs Analysis completed by the college financial-aid office, and an endorsed program of study when required. Academic minimums rise by class level: 2.00 for freshmen, 2.25 for sophomores, 2.50 for juniors and seniors, and 3.00 for graduate or postgraduate students. Documents must arrive—not merely be postmarked—by 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time. The next deadline is October 15, 2026 for winter terms, followed by December 15 for spring; scanned PDF files may be emailed, while faxed materials are not accepted.
