Hagan Scholarship

Offered by Hagan Scholarship Foundation

About this scholarship

The Hagan Scholarship is a need-based, merit-focused program for graduating students at U.S. high schools who are prepared to work, complete required workshops, and stay on a four-year graduation schedule. The undergraduate award provides up to $60,000 across eight consecutive semesters. Additional benefits include funds for first-year essentials, progressively larger Schwab brokerage accounts that scholars manage after completing financial-literacy workshops, up to $8,000 for study or travel abroad, and the possibility of receiving qualifying account gains after graduation. Up to 1,500 scholarships may be awarded for the 2027–28 academic year. Applicants of any nationality or citizenship may apply, but they must attend a U.S. high school, graduate in 2027, have at least a 3.50 unweighted GPA, and enroll at an eligible four-year college the following fall. Community colleges, junior colleges, and online institutions are excluded. The student must complete 240 hours of paid, supervised, non-family employment between January 1 and September 1, 2027. Parents’ 2025 adjusted gross household income may not exceed $125,000, and finalists must provide the applicable FAFSA or non-U.S.-citizenship documentation. The fall application opens September 1 and closes December 1, 2026; a spring round runs January 15 through March 15, 2027.
