Carollo Engineers Bryant L. Bench Scholarship
Offered by American Water Works Association and Carollo Engineers
About this scholarship
The Carollo Engineers Bryant L. Bench Scholarship is a $10,000 award for a graduate student pursuing a passion for water and preparing for the consulting engineering profession. Carollo Engineers established the scholarship in honor of Bryant L. Bench, a water-practice leader known for combining elegant engineering with innovative treatment concepts that improved drinking-water quality. The American Water Works Association administers the award through its Water Equation program, and the 2027-2028 application is open until November 6, 2026. Applicants do not need an AWWA membership, but the program requires permanent residency in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. The matched application should connect the student’s graduate education, water-sector interests, and professional plans to consulting engineering. Scholarship review is merit based, with the academic record and GPA considered. Any required recommendation must be submitted by the deadline and should come from an academic or professional reference rather than family or friends. The $10,000 is paid directly to the recipient’s institution and may be used for tuition, books, laboratory fees, laboratory equipment, or conference registration. It cannot pay rent, per diem expenses, or a living stipend. Applicants must create or use an AWWA account, complete every AwardSpring requirement, and submit on time; incomplete or late files do not advance to the committee.
