Cancer for College Scholarships

Offered by Cancer for College

About this scholarship

Cancer for College uses one application to match cancer survivors with its national, regional, and named scholarship funds. Most awards are $5,000, although the organization states that some specialty scholarships are higher, and its current directory includes more than 100 annual opportunities. The next application window for the 2027–28 school year opens November 1, 2026 and closes January 31, 2027 in the organization’s dedicated SurveyMonkey Apply portal. Applicants must personally have received a cancer diagnosis; the program does not currently fund children of cancer survivors solely on the basis of a parent’s diagnosis. Students may attend an accredited college, university, trade school, or certificate program physically located in the United States. Undergraduates must enroll full time, while graduate students may attend at least part time. International applicants may qualify if their school is in the United States. The applicant’s family adjusted gross income, or the student’s income when independent, may not exceed $150,000 for the most recent tax year. Required documents include the first two pages of the applicable recent tax return or other proof of income, transcripts covering the last two years, and a diagnosis-confirmation letter on medical letterhead from a doctor or nurse. A non-family recommendation is optional. Prior recipients may reapply each year they remain in school.
