Boston University Project PoNST Noyce Scholarship
Offered by Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development
About this scholarship
Boston University’s Preparation of Noyce Science Teachers (Project PoNST) Scholarship prepares science graduates and career changers for secondary-school teaching. For a full-time student in the one-year Master of Arts in Teaching in Science Education, Noyce funding covers ten summer credits and one-third of the two-semester academic-year tuition; BU Wheelock supplies the remaining two-thirds, producing a full-tuition package. The published 2026–27 full-time tuition basis is $73,024. Part-time EdM candidates seeking licensure may receive part or all of tuition within one calendar year, while eligible BU science undergraduates can receive partial senior-year and summer-credit support. Candidates need a completed science degree, U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, admission to the appropriate BU Wheelock graduate program, two recommendations, an equity/diversity/inclusion essay, and a Noyce interview. The scholarship does not cover living expenses, so it is classified as partial funding despite covering tuition. Scholars must finish on the required timeline and teach science for two years in a qualifying high-need U.S. district within four years after graduation. Unfulfilled service can require repayment of the Noyce-funded portion.
