Ball State University Out-of-State Esports Scholarship

Offered by Ball State University Esports

About this scholarship

Ball State University’s Out-of-State Esports Scholarship provides $12,500 per year for up to four years, a maximum value of $50,000, to recruited varsity esports athletes who are not Indiana residents. Candidates first apply to and gain acceptance in a full-time Ball State undergraduate program. They must also have competitive experience in a varsity title currently supported by the university: Valorant, Overwatch, League of Legends, Rocket League, or SIM Racing. Scholarship evaluation includes at least three invitational practices with the current team, with each session lasting no more than two and a half hours. Interested players begin the scholarship process by contacting Ball State’s Director of Esports, Dan Marino, through the official staff contact page; the university does not publish a separate form or a fixed cutoff for this award. Recipients may not have been banned, fined, or removed from competition by a league organizer or game developer. Students who accept this esports scholarship cannot receive additional Ball State University awards, an important restriction when comparing aid packages. Renewal for up to four years depends on continuing to satisfy the scholarship criteria and remaining eligible for the varsity esports program. Applicants should contact the director early because roster space and scholarship funding are limited even though no formal deadline is listed.
