Air Line Pilots Association Scholarship Program
Offered by Air Line Pilots Association, International
About this scholarship
The Air Line Pilots Association Scholarship Program is an undergraduate benefit for children of qualifying ALPA pilot members. Each year, ALPA awards one renewable scholarship worth $60,000 in total, paid as $15,000 for four consecutive years, and one additional $10,000 single-year scholarship. The program is not restricted to aviation majors: the student may pursue any course of study that is wholly or principally creditable toward a bachelor’s degree at an appropriately accredited or state-approved institution. Applicants must be children of ALPA members who are medically retired, long-term disabled, or deceased. The program primarily anticipates students entering college as freshmen, but eligible students already enrolled in college may also apply. Selection considers academic capability and financial need. The online application includes the student application and two-page essay, financial statement, and secondary-school report. Applicants also submit official high school or college transcripts and two recommendations from unrelated people—one teacher and one person who knows the student outside school. Current college students omit the secondary-school evaluation but provide both high school and college records as directed. Completed materials must be received by the annual April 1 deadline. The four-year recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA, carry a full-time or equivalent annual course load, provide transcripts, and avoid disqualifying disciplinary suspension or censure to retain future payments.
