AAUW International Project Grant

Offered by American Association of University Women

About this scholarship

The AAUW International Project Grant gives former AAUW International Fellows up to $10,000 to lead charitable community projects that advance the social or economic empowerment of women and girls. This is project funding rather than tuition aid: the budget cannot pay scholarships, tuition, salaries, personal expenses, construction, lobbying, political campaigns, fundraising, or grants to other people or organizations. Applicants must identify as women, have completed an AAUW International Fellowship between June 2011 and June 2026 with all reporting obligations satisfied, and remain the primary project director with authority over program, budget, administration, and editorial decisions. Recipients must be non-U.S. citizens who do not hold or seek U.S. permanent residence. Ordinarily they must live in and implement the project in their home country; AAUW permits a carefully explained exception when humanitarian, safety, or similar circumstances prevent return. The Fluxx portal application includes an abstract, local needs evidence, project design and outcomes, community engagement, timeline, sustainability and evaluation plans, an itemized budget with narrative justification, and a resume or CV. AAUW favors locally grounded, measurable, sustainable projects, especially in historically underserved or at-risk communities. The 2026 application window runs from August 17 through September 30. Proposed projects must begin between July 1 and September 30, 2027 and end within 12 months. Awards are paid in two installments, with the second contingent on satisfactory progress and reporting.
